The beauty of the South Seas Collection is inherent in the slight roughness and irregularity of the reeds, which enhance its appearance and give the war, custom-made quality look. Due to grain texture in wood there may be slight variation in color an hues of wood fabrics from slat to slat and roll to roll.

Based on extensive tests and past experience, with normal care and average amount of sun exposure, weaving cords and yards should give in excess of 5 years of service. Hundreds of installations are still in use after 10 years and are a good testimony to the longevity of the materials. The use of detergents instead of mild soap, and failure to rinse with clear water will have a deteriorating effect upon the yarns and waving cords. Because there is an undetermined amount of stretch in certain weaving cords and yarns, we cannot guarantee the material will remain a constant length. Yarn thickness, coloration, and weave pattern may vary form time to time due to the nature of the product.

Yarns used in the weaving of the Woven Shades are color fast and vat dyed, but are not guaranteed against fading. Fading may occur on the street side of the fabric where exposed to extensive sunlight. The wood slats act as a shield and by fabrication methods the face of the shade will not be exposed to the sun.

Natural bamboo Matchstick and bamboo slat materials are not uniform and therefore shade lengths may vary from one end to the other. We cannot assume any responsibility for mildew. Due to the twist weave of bamboo matchstick, length may increase after installation.

Wood slats are milled to varying sizes and shades from the finest imported woods. The slats are painted or stained. The reeds and slats retain the grain and color irregularities inherent in this type of natural wood.

Both paint on wood slats and yarn dye will be subject to color variations. Although we maintain strick standards to ensure against such variation, exact match from lot to lot cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, attempting to make exact color matches using the sample swatches are not recommended.

The side of the woven shade facing outside will change color in relation to the amount of sun exposure. The wood slats themselves will act as a shield to protect the face yarns form discoloration.

Proper care and maintenance should allow your woven shades to last many years. Improper or over active use may cause cord wear, or on a roman shade, the failure of the small rings used to pleat the shades. Each can easily be replaced or repaired.

All product have been carefully inspected and adjusted at the plant. However, minor adjustments may be necessary once the job has been installed. The yarns are flexible enough to permit minor adjustments horizontally and vertically for proper alignment on your window. If the bottom becomes uneven, merely pull down on either side to stretch the yarn and align the shade. If the shade does not lie flat against the wall or window, roll the shade tightly from the bottom and twist roll clockwise on one side, counter-clockwise on the other, and this will align yarns and sticks. When cords become difficult to pull, check the alignment in pulley mechanism on shade. Do not force the mechanisms, as they will bind even more. If one side of the shade rises more than the other, simply adjust the cord equalizers. They are set at the factory buy may get out of alignment with use. If a yarn slips off the edge of the fabric, remove the yarn completely. The weaving technique used allows removal of yarns without affecting the strength of the material or causing it to unravel.

Like all woven fabrics and shades will stretch and shrink according to temperature and humidity. This change in length will only be noticeable on inside or floor to ceiling installations. Bamboo matchstick has a natural tendency to stretch after installation. Due to natural elasticity of most yarns, a shade tends to draw-up if left packaged for any period of time. Allow a few days for this natural stretch to occur if shades are short upon initial installation.

Wood is a natural insulator. Extensive studies have proven woven shades to be the most effective in maintaining room temperatures as compared to most other window coverings.

Periodic vacuuming of the woven shade is all that is normally needed to ensure lasting beauty. Stain repellent is recommended for installations, which will be exposed to excessive dirt or grease.
